The alienated feminist
the vulnerable self
Often, as a feminist, I encounter uncomfortable forms of labeling in social interactions. Discussing feminist theory with a friend can be perceived as lacking empathy, while expressing empathy toward one group of women may invite alienation from another. There is no simple right or wrong; feminism is complex, both as a theoretical framework and as lived experience. As an artist and philosopher, I use this series of paintings to unfold and explore these emotional tensions.
